To continue in the familiar vein of public participation and interaction, the Netaudio Open Platform is a community programmed stage aiming to showcase new and emerging musicians throughout the afternoon and early evening. Programmed via an open call for entries, the Sonic Maze will include the curatorial input from Martin Bricelj, Director of MoTA and Slovenia’s leading sound art festival Sonica. With an intentionally accessible approach to encourage visitors to engage with the works, there will be a vast array of interactive audio-visual installations for visitors to explore. The Netaudio 2011 conference will bring together theorists, practitioners, activists and academics to address a challenging set of themes in 21st-century culture: politics and protest creativity and collaboration digital futures and analogue survivals.Īudio in the internet era will be the reference point for all of these discussions, but their scope will expand well beyond online music to consider the whole ecology of public spaces and political interventions with which it interacts, and which shape every aspect of contemporary life. The evening programme is a rare occasion to discover surrealist pioneer Steve Stapleton’s* Nurse With Wound project, *Mika Vainio in a newly commissioned collaboration with Bruce Gilbert, and the compelling Austrian post-rock group Radian. The varied programme included in Short Circuit Festival encourages participation in all forms: interactive sound art installations, conferences, workshops, collaborative online broadcasting and headline shows. Netaudio London promotes the work of artists who use digital and network technologies to explore new boundaries in music and sonic art.
